We are currently hiring a Senior QA Engineer for our Germany-based cybersecurity partner that protects the real world against digital threats. They offer a certified Security-as-a-Service platform for protecting digital business processes. The product monitors, analyses and filters malicious internet traffic before virtual attacks can do any real harm. The technological basis for this is provided by tailor-made system solutions that must work flawlessly and be continuously optimised and expanded.
About the role
Looking for a Senior QA Engineer proficient in both automation and manual testing methodologies - equally comfortable testing software manually and automating stable features across products. This role also carries clear ownership of testing our AI-powered application features and the data pipelines that support them.
What you’ll be doing
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and other QA team members to understand requirements, identify test conditions, develop detailed and comprehensive test cases using hybrid test design techniques
- Take full ownership of planning and executing manual test cases, reporting defects, and tracking issues through to resolution and production deployment
- Conduct exploratory testing to surface issues not covered by scripted test cases
- Analyse test results, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with development teams to resolve defects in a timely manner, leveraging both manual and automated approaches.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts within the existing Playwright framework for regression testing across all products
- Test AI-powered application features (e.g. chatbot, summarisation) - validating application behaviour, how the product handles model responses, and the end-to-end user experience of these features
- Test the data pre-processing and filtering layer that prepares and gates data before it reaches the AI models - verifying that data is correctly filtered, transformed, and validated upstream. (Note: this role does not involve evaluating or benchmarking the AI models themselves)
What we’ll expect from you
- Proficiency with Playwright/Selenium/Cypress or similar tools for building and maintaining automated test suites
- Proficient in leveraging AI tools (e.g. Claude) to accelerate day-to-day testing activities - such as test case generation, test data creation, script drafting, and defect analysis to improve speed and coverage
- Hands-on experience testing AI-based applications (AI-powered product features and/or the data layers that feed them). Note: this is application-layer testing - no ML/data-science background required
- 7+ years in software testing, with genuine strength across both manual and automation methods
- Experience with manual testing methodologies - test case design, execution, and defect management - and the ability to switch seamlessly between manual and automated approaches as load demands.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive resolution
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration, and a demonstrated sense of ownership
- Added advantage - ISTQB Foundation Level certification & Experience with CI/CD pipelines (any common tooling)
