RoleDescription

TechPods is a UK-based technology co-sourcing company with offices in Bulgaria. Unlike traditional IT outsourcing companies, TechPods' fully transparent model enables companies to scale quicker, while mitigating risk and reducing costs. We strongly believe that traditional outsourcing is dead, and the key to long-term success lies within partnering, as opposed to vendoring.

We’re seeking a Senior Data Analyst with genuine engineering capability to join an innovative UK-based platform. This is the first dedicated data hire in the business, offering a unique opportunity to build from the ground up. You won't just be maintaining static reports; you will be designing pipelines, replacing manual processes, and creating the analytical foundations that product, operations, finance, and compliance will rely on.

If you enjoy working across the full data lifecycle—from raw source systems through to polished dashboards—and want direct access to senior leadership to shape how data works across a scaling organisation, then come and join the adventure!

What you’ll be doing

Analytics and Modelling

  • Build analytical layers and dashboards in our BI platform (currently Metabase) that serve as a single source of truth across the business
  • Develop and document metric definitions and modelling logic used by multiple teams
  • Provide structured analysis of product, operational, and financial performance - surfacing insights, not just numbers
  • Own the DBT layer: write, test, and document models that other teams can rely on

    Data Engineering
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL and ELT pipelines using SQL, dbt, and automation tooling
  • Create reusable, well-tested data models that support scalable analytics
  • Implement validation, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data reliability
  • Optimise database queries, indexes, and schemas across our PostgreSQL / SQL Server environment

    Automation and System Integration
  • Replace manual reporting, particularly Excel-based processes, with automated, repeatable workflows
  • Build and maintain integrations between internal systems, BI tools, finance platforms, and external APIs
  • Design efficient, traceable automation paths that improve data flow across the organisation

    Governance and Quality
  • Document data models, definitions, and lineage to ensure transparency and reusability.
  • Support compliance with GDPR, FCA requirements, and internal governance processes.
  • Establish naming conventions and data standards that can scale as the team grows
    Communication and Collaboration
  • Translate complex data decisions into clear, accessible language for engineering, product, and finance stakeholders
  • Own problems end-to-end - from requirements definition through to automated solution and documentation
  • Act as the internal authority on data quality and definitions, building confidence in the numbers across the business

What we’ll expect from you

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a data analyst or data engineering role, ideally in a SaaS or product-led environment
  • Strong SQL skills - comfortable writing complex queries, building data models, and optimising performance in PostgreSQL or SQL Server
  • Practical experience with DBT for data transformation and modelling
  • Experience building dashboards and reports in Metabase, Power BI, Looker, or Tableau
  • Proven ability to replace manual, Excel-based reporting with automated workflows.
  • Comfortable working in an unstructured environment - you can define your own priorities and create order from ambiguity
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Exposure to FCA-regulated or financial services environments, with an understanding of compliance and audit requirements
  • Experience integrating data from external APIs or third-party systems
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and GDPR data handling obligations
  • Python or another scripting language for automation and data processing tasks
  • Experience building or contributing to a data function as an early or sole hire

    Why us?
  • Excellent opportunity to work with leading-edge technologies
  • Additional private health and dental care
  • Flexible working hours, either from our new modern office, from home, or even remotely
  • Co-funded MultiSport Card / Cool Fit Card to enjoy hundreds of indoor, outdoor, and wellness activities
  • Co-funded Transportation card
  • Having the great opportunity to work with passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced people, where your opinion is highly valued
  • High team autonomy to make a significant impact on the company
  • Part of a strong local tech community with lots of technology events
  • Keep up-to-date with weekly company clubs, initiatives & regular teambuildings
  • Self-development annual budget to spend on books, courses, and events
