We're currently looking for a Data Engineer who will work collaboratively within a fast-paced software development team. The position is open within one of our well-established partners, specialising in fast-growing technology, data science, and high-quality SaaS solutions that automate data science using advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques. In this role, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimising our data infrastructure, pipelines, and processing systems.

What you'll be doing
- Design and build end-to-end data solutions on Microsoft Azure, from ingestion to analytics-ready data models
- Architect and implement modern Lakehouse solutions using Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric/Databricks following the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold)
- Design scalable data pipelines that ingest data from multiple sources, including Azure Cosmos DB, SQL databases, APIs, and event-driven services
- Build robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Spark
- Design and maintain enterprise-grade Azure Data Warehouse solutions, including logical data modelling, metadata management, testing, and performance optimisation
- Transform and model data for Business Intelligence, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and downstream analytics
- Implement data quality, validation, monitoring, and governance across the platform
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to design scalable, reliable, and secure data architecture
What we'll expect from you
- Strong experience designing complete Azure data platforms, not just individual pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks or Microsoft Fabric — these should feel like second nature
- Strong experience with Apache Spark (PySpark or Spark SQL) for large-scale data processing
- Experience reading and transforming data from Azure Cosmos DB into analytical models
- Excellent understanding of Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture, Kimball Star Schema, and modern data warehousing concepts
- Advanced SQL skills and experience modelling complex analytical datasets
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage (ADLS Gen2) and Azure-native data services
- Experience implementing CI/CD for data platforms using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, permissions, recovery, monitoring, and observability in Azure.
- Experience working with financial, regulatory, PowerBI, or Machine Learning data workloads is a strong advantage.
